This is a classic Chaplin film. I haven't seen it yet, but I heard it's great, and I understand it's about a lonely tramp (Chaplin) who drives himself into poverty in an effort to cure a pretty girl he barely knows of blindness.
In any case, this is a Beat-related film because Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Peter Martin named a magazine after it, and later used the name for their North Beach bookstore, the legendary City Lights.
